Paused...
These pieces are meant to be repeated several times, being based on Finnish and Karelian lullabies. The first is Tuuti, tuuti, tuuti, lasta, the second Minä laulan lapselleni ("I Sing to My Child"), and the third is the rather well-known Nuku, nuku, nurmilintu ("Sleep, Sleep, Bird of Grass"). That last title and the lyrics of the second lullaby (which involves birds) were among the reasons for the title of the collection, although it really refers to a type of fake currency. |
