Seven Fugal Pieces |
Work no. 139 | |
Paused...
Very short pieces done during a difficult period when I had very little time to compose – like exercises, to keep myself in shape. The fugal technique here does not distinguish between arco and pizzicato notes: the theme (or a part of it) may be stated either way. Most of the melodic lines feature numerous pauses and sharp breaks, too. In many ways this is a gentler version of the contrapuntal writing from the He who grows up in times of plenty... harpsichord fugue (work no. 111). |
